About Kim….the short version

Hello everyone…. I’m Kim Taylor and I live in Newberg, Oregon on a small 5-acre property that is surrounded by rolling hills filled with grape vineyards and hazelnut fields. I’ve lived here since 2010 with my husband Bob. Together we nurtured this little piece of Heaven from years of neglect creating Oregon Dream Ponies (2010-8/2024). Oregon Dream Ponies was a darling children’s place for a child to experience a pony (or unicorn) just their size leaving them with a lifetime of memories.

After more than a decade of owning and operating Oregon Dream Ponies, we have shifted to the next evolution living on this tiny magical ranch. I never would have dreamed how much I would have learned about living life by moving here from urban life. The country lifestyle filled a place in my heart like nothing before. Being surrounded by so much life created a grounding feeling like we are finally home. Bob & I wish for everyone to find their home.

The Joy Pathway is a place where we create community, educate, share stories, life lessons and create experiences helping illuminate your own Joyful Pathway. The Joy Pathway intents to focus on raising awareness lighting the unique direction intended for your life elevating your well-being to shine brighter!

About Kim….the long version

From an early age, I was drawn to horses. I must have driven my mom crazy with all my talk about wanting to go see or go ride a horse. My sister will tell you to this day that I am the source of a handful of traumatic experiences having been “forced” to go on yet another trail ride because her sister’s contact nagging our mother to go see and ride the horses.

This love for horses showed up in college when an opportunity became available to clean horse stalls on Sundays at the University stables. I was in heaven being able to hang out with the horses. My dad would come and help me because he felt sorry for how hard I was working cleaning the stalls. I remember the puzzled look on my dad's face as I cheerfully bounced from stall to stall pushing heavy wheelbarrows.

As life continued, wife and parenting duties came to the forefront for many years until one day when the kids where a bit older and I found myself with a bit of unexpected “extra” time. I remember finding an advertisement on Craigslist for a barn that was nearby that offered horse riding lessons for $25/hour. I asked my husband, Bob, if he thought it would be ok if I took a horse lesson. I was met with an enthusiastic “Yes, absolutely!”. That one lesson led to today’s life of living on a small 5-acre property offering dream pony ride experiences to children of all age along with the support of 30+ “roommates”…..5 horses, 5 mini-horses, chickens, sheep, dogs and cats. This creation lives here as Oregon Dream Ponies. It is an absolutely beautiful life!

How We Started a Pony & Horse Ranch on the outskirts of Portland, Oregon and came up with Special ways for children & families Visit.

Oregon Dream Ponies fulfills a lifelong dream for me. Growing up in an urban lifestyle, I rode every pony ride in Oregon dreaming all the while of having a horse of my very own. As a child, I tried to convince her mom that there was room for a pony to live in the garage.

All this dreaming of owning property and running a family business became a reality in June of 2010, with the purchased of 5 beautiful acres in Newberg, Oregon. Bob and I now enjoy the peace and hard work of an agrarian lifestyle at the Taylor Hillside Farm and Ranch.

The ability to fulfill the dreams of youngsters that are not growing up in an atmosphere where horse ownership is possible, is a dream come true!

I have always been drawn to working with and investing in children. My career started after graduating from Oregon State University with an advanced degree in mathematics. I taught mathematics at the middle school level and maintained a State of Oregon teaching license for many years. Being able to combine my love of children and horses & ponies I found a way to live my life’s passion and purpose.

Life is a journey and now is time for the next evolution along this pathway…..I am calling this next evolution “The Joy Pathway”.
